History

The Village Institute, of wood and tile construction, stood for 40 years in Pound Place, but in January 1961 it burnt to the ground during the night. Following intense fund raising the current Village Hall opened on the Christmas Hill site in November 1964. The land where the Halls stand was given by the late Edgar C Wigan in 1962. Over the years the Main Hall was enlarged to provide the Club rooms and the Small Hall. The Upper Hall was added in 1999 and also the bowling green and more Tennis Courts which were funded from various sources, including the Lottery, Guildford Borough Council and private funds.Today the Shalford Village Hall is in a strong position, with all its facilities being used on a daily and weekly basis by well established as well as occasional customers.  New enquiries are welcomed.
